How to: Run ScanDisk.
Solution:
Click the 'Start' button to display the 'Start' menu, select 'Programs', and select 'Accessories'. Select 'System Tools' and select 'ScanDisk'. Select the drive to be scanned and select the desired radio button from the 'Type of Testing' group. Click 'Start'.
1) Click the 'Start' button to display the 'Start' menu.
2) Select 'Programs' and select 'Accessories'.
3) Select the 'System Tools' menu and select 'ScanDisk'. (The 'ScanDisk <drive>' dialog box appears.)
4) Select the drive you wish to check for errors from the 'Select the drive(s) you want to check for errors' list box.

5) Do one of the following in the 'Type of test' group:

a) Select the 'Standard' radio button to scan all folders and files for errors.
b) Select the 'Thorough' radio button to scan the entire drive for errors, as well as scanning all folders and files.
NOTE: Surface testing requires a longer period of time to run ScanDisk.
6) (Optional) Select the 'Automatically fix errors' check box.
7) Click 'Start'. (A 'Results' window appears when complete.)
8) Click 'Close' to close the 'Results' window.
9) Click 'Close' to close ScanDisk.
